HOPE

Devotional

Hope Never Disappoints
by Robbin Brown, HopeKids

Do you look for Hope in your life? This Christmas season reminds us of the ultimate fulfillment of Hope- the birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus set into motion the beautiful love story God had designed for us all. Jesus’s birth led to a blameless life filled with love and compassion and ultimately led to his death on the cross. It is because of the death on the cross that Hope can exist. Whatever we are facing, it has already been defeated. In this we can find hope and hope is powerful. Hope is what tells us it is okay. Hope gives us something to look forward to. Mary must have been so afraid when she was told she would birth God’s son. Somewhere along the way though, I think she had to surrender her fear, lean into what God was doing and by doing that, she experienced hope!

Is there an area of your life that is keeping you from experiencing the Hope of the season. What does it look like for you to surrender your fears or uncertainties and instead experience Hope.

Romans 5:3-5 says, “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

Fear disappoints. Pain disappoints. Trying to do it all on our own- that definitely disappoints. But hope, hope-that never disappoints. Will you lean into God’s love this Holiday season? He is waiting with open arms and ready to embrace you in hope!
